​Founded in 1990  by AugustoCano, the Director, INSTITUTO PACIFICO DE IDIOMAS (IPAI) shares Costa Rican and Latin culture with foreign travelers. Our English Program for locals greatly facilitates this process.  Now, over 30 years later, we continue doing what we love and adding new language programs! ​

​​Our Host Families

Our host families are carefully selected friends of ours that we have worked alongside for several years; all of which are honest, kind, and very open minded. We also offer the option to stay with Augusto´s family as well. Our families will immerse you into Costa Rican and South American cultures as well as teach the slight differences of language first hand. Each family lives within walking distance of our school and offer comfortable, safe individual accommodations.

Our tours, guided by bilingual Spanish teachers, are comfortable, enriching, and memorable. Dive into Costa Rican culture and begin practicing your new language, right here at the school, with our English students or as a volunteer worker.

Our Method

​ More than 30 years of experience has helped us to develop a gradual set of books that have real life dialogues, small readings, and oral exercises. It includes techniques from all the main learning theories to provide you with all the necessary tools to grasp and use Conversational Spanish. Learn in a few weeks what typically takes years in high school or college to grasp! To guarantee your learning we have weekly CONVERSATIONAL CLUB meetings with our local English students and the assistance of a teacher.
